I just heard John Gorka perform this at Rams Head in Annapolis Maryland yesterday February 25th (2022). He performed with Cliff Eberhardt, Lucy Kaplansky and Patty Larkin. Absolutely delightful. I had seen all 4 perform somewhere in the past when I lived in New England (now live on the eastern shore of Maryland). That had to be pre 2005 or earlier. "When I grow up I want to be a tree ... Excelente Dúo sumamente bueno, tuve que escribirlo en partitura para entenderlo mejor.

This song touches me so deeply. I saw Cheryl in concert at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS, and I think it was not long after the break up she speaks of here. My heart ached right with her.

How anyone can compare this to the original or how Foucault plays it is beyond me. Foucault’ phrasing and passion makes the song deep on so many levels. This version to me is like a typical pub strummer, the rhythm and sound is there but only superficially.
